Ray at Night Art Walk
Final preparations for the Ray at Night Art Walk are on going. Dropped off the photographs at Warp 9 Imaging last night and still need to print out a short bio. I'm really excited to show my work to the public for the first time. Can't wait to hear all the reactions and feedback. See all my San Diego folks there.

What a Deal
In search of a 35mm prime lens and some filters, I found my way to the Bargain Camera Swap Meet at the Al Bahr Shrine center yesterday. My first experience at a camera swap meet and and I have to say I think I came out on top. I ended up coming home with my 35mm, 2 Hoya 52mm filters, 3 light stands, a reflector holder, 2 speedlight light stand adapters, and 2 speedlight soft boxes with mounts for $460. Not a bad deal if I say so myself. The next Bargain Camera Show in San Diego is Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Al Bahr Shrine Center. Maybe you'll have as good as luck as I did.

Three for Three
At the beginning of the year I joined "The Darkroomers", a photography club here in San Diego. They meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Building of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to meet other photographers and to show some of my work. The group focuses on print photography, which finally forced me to get a new printer (Epson Stylus Photo R2880) and actually print my work. So far I've really enjoyed the entire process from releasing the shutter button to looking at my final print and everything in between.
The first meetings of the month are the critique nights where you can bring in up to 3 images to be judged by selected judges (usually professional photographers in the area). The judge will either accept or pass on the image and explain why he/she did so. If the photograph is accepted it will be hung in the building for exhibition. The last critique night I entered 3 images and all 3 were accepted!! It was fairly exciting as this is the first time my work has been shown in public. If you are in the San Diego area stop by the Photographic Arts Building in Balboa Park (between the Museum of Natural History and the Carousel). Check it out and tell me what you think by posting your comments.
